Art Club began in September of 2013 with a group of twenty Junior Cycle students getting involved in local art competitions. This year students saw great success in the Credit Union Competition with winners in first, second and fifth year. The theme for this year’s competition was ‘Art Fest’. Each artist attended a prize giving ceremony and following this, the winners artworks were entered into the Leinster and all-Ireland stages of the competition.

Christopher Roach pictured below, won runner-up prize in the all-Ireland Credit Union competition and was presented his prize money and plaque in Croke Park. Christopher’s winning batik will now feature in the 2015 Credit Union calendar which is a great achievement for an artist of such a young age.

Art in the Park is another competition students are preparing for this year. Inspired by last year’s winning entries students design and make sculptures for the People’s Park in Moate, Co. Westmeath. Pictured here are last years winning sculptures made by Transition Year students.
