TYB and 5th Year Art students enjoyed a guided visit to Abbeyleix Bog on a lovely fresh morning, led by Fiona Dunne, chairperson of the Abbeyleix Bog Project. Fiona delivered an engaging and informative tour, highlighting the rich heritage of the bog and pointing out a variety of fascinating bog species and conservation efforts along the trail.

The students were then treated to a talk by macro photographer Melissa Casey, who shared her stunning close-up photographs taken on the bog and offered insights into her creative process. Inspired by what they had seen and learned, the students continued around the trail capturing photographs of their own. Many thanks to Fiona and Melissa for their time, generosity, and for sharing their knowledge so enthusiastically.
