The time to change subjects for 1st years is now – any requests made after next Friday, September 18th, will not be considered.
The changing of a subject for 1st years may seem very simple, but it isn’t.
· There must be room in the class he wishes to move to.
· If the current subject and the new subject are not on at the same time, (in the same block as we call it) it will mean rearranging a lot of his timetable. This will mean changing his teachers in other options which may not suit.
· Economically, if he has already used the e-code to download the text to his iPad, that e-book code is now used and cannot be transferred to another. The cost of this will go back to the parent/guardian who will have to pay for an additional code for us to re-use the book for someone else before the change of subject is made.
· Likewise, when he moves to another subject, he will need a new book and code. He will most likely be getting a textbook which was used before and have to wait for the publisher to provide the code that someone else is paying for.
To be fair, subject option leaflets and information was provided on the Open Night. Subjects were selected in February. Many people moved into the area since then and had to take the subjects where there was space, which was not their first choice. So, it is tight.
However, there seems to be a lot of 1st years looking to change. Not all changes will be possible, as most of the classes are already full. Someone will have to move out of a class for another to move into.
A REQUEST TO CHANGE SUBJECT FORM will be distributed to 1st years tomorrow.
· An announcement will be made in the first class for all requesting a change to come to the GPA and
· they will receive the Form to take to their teacher of the subject they will be leaving to sign.
· If they wish to see the Career Guidance teacher they can do so at another time either tomorrow or Monday or Tuesday.
· Finally, they take it home to you for signing. This is permission for us to see is it possible to change.
· We will not change anyone without the Form being signed by all mentioned people.
· ALL FORMS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE BY WEDNESDAY, 16TH SEPTEMBER. NO CHANGES WILL BE MADE AFTER FRIDAY THE 18TH SEPTEMBER.
