Our Transition Year students enjoyed a fantastic first outing of the year with a trip to Ballinakill that combined fun, teamwork, and history. Their day began at the excellent Ballinakill outdoor swimming pool, where swimming, games, and light-hearted activities helped strengthen bonds and set a positive tone for the year ahead.

Afterwards, the group took a scenic walk through the stunning Heywood Gardens, under the guardianship of the OPW (Office of Public Works). Along the way, they stopped at different points to learn about the rich local history of the site – from the plantation era to the Salesians, and its present role as a community school.

With the sun shining, it was the perfect blend of activity, fresh air, learning, and friendship – an ideal way to round off the summer and kickstart the TY year!
