Parents Plus Parenting When Separated

New Edition Launch & Training Options

Dear Conor

The Parents Plus Parenting When Separated (PWS) programme supports parents who are preparing for, going through or have gone through a separation or divorce. This March, we are looking forward to launching a new edition of the programme with a special online workshop. We hope you’ll join us for the launch event on Zoom on:

Wednesday March 25th at 2pm-3pm

What’s Changing?

Developed over the last three years, the new edition is the result of careful consultation with many of the parents who completed PWS and the professional facilitators who delivered the groups. We also consulted with children and young people who had experienced separation in their families.

The revised PWS programme will increase from six to seven sessions to allow more time for parents. The new format contains new content and materials including:

  • Videos from parents who completed PWS, sharing their experiences

  • Quotes and stories from children and teenagers

  • Additional input on parent self-care and stress management

  • Extra input for professionals on managing challenging contexts such as domestic violence, coercive control and parental alienation.

Parenting When Separated New Edition Training Options

Our first scheduled trainings for the new edition Parenting When Separated programme begin in June 2026. If you would like to train as a Parents Plus Parenting When Separated facilitator, you can choose to train fully online via Zoom or, for those who would like to connect with fellow practitioners face-to-face, you can join us for a hybrid training, with two days in-person at The Mater Hospital, followed by a single morning workshop.

If you have already trained as a Parents Plus Parenting When Separated facilitator, you can upskill with a single morning workshop, which will train you in all the new elements of the programme. This workshop includes updated course materials and is free of charge if your PWS training took place after 1st March 2025.

We also deliver onsite training and supervision for teams (15 or more), and/or tailored support in the roll-out and evaluation of the programmes to ensure effective community-wide delivery. If you are interested in discussing bespoke training options for your team, please email our Impact Lead, Vicki Byrne, at vicki@parentsplus.ie.
