Planning the transition from school to college for students with special educational needs and/ or disabilities ‘Disability Access Route to Education’ (DARE), supports for students with disabilities in college, and what to expect from online or blended learning.
While this talk is for parents and school leavers, it may be useful for teachers / guidance counsellors and will look at:
- Understanding the DARE scheme
- Essential skills for transition to college
- Registering with college Disability Services
- Understanding how college works

Facilitator: Dr Alison Doyle has practiced across all sectors of education as a teacher and Chartered Educational Psychologist for more than 40 years. She has a particular practice and research interest in supporting young people with neurodiverse conditions to manage the transition from school to college and employment. Alison is also a part-time lecturer to postgraduate programmes within the Institute of Child Education and Psychology Europe and is a member of the Association of Educational Psychologists (UK), the British Psychological Society, the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and the Psychological Society of Ireland.
