️Senior Rugby Report️
Our Senior Rugby team were out on Tuesday the 7th of November vs a big Creagh College Gorey side in the last 16 tie of the Ann McInerney Cup.
They hit the ground running with Cian Butler crashing over first and Daniel Thornton converting to give us a 7 point lead. Shortly after Ciaran O’Brien-McCormack drove his way under the posts for an easy kick and a 14 point lead. Creagh would fight back though with their centre breaking the line and scoring but a missed kick left the score 14 points to 5. That wasn’t the score for long though with Aaron Kingston finding his way over for another try. Then just before the break quick hands let Paddy Reddin score in the corner giving the CBS a lead of 24-5 at the break.
The second half was no different to the first with Cian scoring his second of the game early on and Daniel converting once again to push the CBS even further ahead. Great work in the forwards from the likes of Clinton O Eijofor, Nathan Duffy, and Charlie O’Dwyer in the scrum helped massively for the win. The CBS were not afraid to make changes and the fresh legs off the bench finished the game as a contest with powerful runners like Darragh Walker and Robert Keane adding a new spark.
Paddy Reddin was then at the double after running over his man and tapping it down in the corner increasing the score to 36-5. Adam Glynn was next on the scoresheet for the brothers crashing over the whitewash with Thornton there again to convert. The final nail in the coffin for Gorey was a piece of brilliance from PJ Larkin, starting in his own twenty-two he dodged and evaded the Gorey players all the way before placing the ball under the posts, with a Thornton conversion yet again the match ended with a win for the CBS 50 points to 5. Man of the match was shared by the two powerhouses in the front row Adam Raji and Charlie O’Dwyer.
As is customary the men of the match sing on the way home as the video in our social media stories shows! Congratulations to all players and coaches ️ #fromeachtheirbest
