The South Leinster Schools Cross Country took place on Wednesday 29th January in a new location of Fenagh, Carlow. In what could only be described as gruelling underfoot and weather conditions, the boys did not shy away from it.
Highlight of the day goes to David Wajrack who bagged himself 3rd place in the Senior Boys. This is David’s first year in the Senior Category. David ran a courageous race staying in the leading pack of 10 for the first km and hanging on when there was a break, fighting all the way across the line to claim a spot for Leinsters next week. Well done and best of luck next week David!
Our Junior Boys produced a very impressive team performance narrowly missing out on a medal in 4th place. However, Luke Duvaney stole the show coming through the field in style. Luke ran a very smart race, pacing himself during the first lap and strategically overtook athletes. With a strong finish, Luke crossed the line in 15th position, grabbing the last place for qualification to the Leinster Champions This is a great achievement as there were over 200 athletes in the field.
Well done to all who competed on the day! Next up is Pheonix Park to take on the rest of Leinster!
