Over 40 of our athletes have competed in the South Leinsters Track & Field Championships over 3 days in Carlow SETU and St Laurence O’Tooles Track.

We had a combination of beginners and experienced athletes, each individual put out their best effort on the day representing our school very well.
It was our experienced athletes that showcased some excellent performances Starting off with our Senior Boys 4x400m relay leading from the gun and running away from the field. Not only was it a winning performance but these boys broke the South Leisnter record.
Also on the day, Joshua Osumah finished in 2nd place in the u16 boys Long Jump. On day 3, Joshua also claimed silver in the High Jump and will progress to Leinster.
Luke Devaney ran a clever 1500m race to claim 5th place.

Also on the podium was Rueben Plunkett who was busy on the track claiming gold in the 200m in style and 2nd place in the 400m. Well done Rueben!

Dan Downey was present at all 3 days leading the way in the 400m Hurdles and 2nd in the 200m.

In the endurance event, Dinny Whelan ran an impressive 800m race in tough conditions to finish in 5th place. David Wajrak ran a tactically race to finish strong in 2nd place and claim his spot for the Leinster Champs.

Well done to everyone who competed on the day. Best of luck to all who will represent the school next week in the Leinster Schools Champs that will take place in Tullamore Stadium.
