I hope that your son is settling in and enjoying the TY programme at this stage.
September and October have gotten off to a flying start with a variety of expeditions and visiting speakers.

  • Our term ended with a 12k Slieve Bloom hike while TYA put their newly acquired cooking skills to work with Ms. Martina Murphy.
  • Since returning this term, we have had Psychologist Dr. Eddie Murphy (Operation Transformation) in to speak and offer a work experience opportunity in research and possibly a Mini Company idea in Marketing.
  • Our previous Zambian team also made a presentation on their Immersion Project inciting a lot of interest in our next 2017 project.

We have a busy term ahead:

  • Minister Charlie Flanagan has agreed to visit next Monday November 9th.
  • All students will complete the ‘Drive for Life‘ course running next Tuesday & Thursday November 10th & 12th.
  • Tony Sheridan, possibly our most popular speaker from last year returns November 17th.
  • Battle of the Wits Round Two takes place also on November 17th in Mountmellick.
  • Speech & Drama exams take place on November 19th.
  • All students will participate in a Retreat in Castletown on November 24th.
  • On December 1st, we will go ice skating to Dundrum.
  • December 7th & 8th will be two Law Days with visiting barrister James Fahey.
  • On December 10th we will host an in school Mini Company Exhibition.
  • Finbarr Walsh, father of Donal, visits the school on December 14th.
  • We also will attend the Scoil Chriost Ri TY production that day.
  • Our own Panto production Aladdin will take place on December 18th.
  • Carol singing will also take place in December.

Preparations for Sci Fest are underway for January 14th.

Investigations for an optional trip abroad are still ongoing. Details will be send home with students in the next week.
